How horses qualify
The Breeders’ Cup Challenge Series provides automatic qualifying opportunities in major races around the world. The 2026 schedule includes the Woodbine Mile at Woodbine on September 12 as a direct qualifier for the Mile division.
That makes OTB Bet’s Woodbine Mile hub an important part of the path toward this championship. OTB Bet will continue to update the Mile picture as qualifying races are completed and the Keeneland field becomes clearer.
Why the Mile matters
The race rewards a specific combination of speed, positioning and finishing strength. Because major turf milers can arrive from several racing systems, the field often creates direct comparisons between North American form and elite international turf form.
Notable Speech provided a recent example of that international connection. After winning the 2025 Woodbine Mile, he went on to win the Breeders’ Cup Mile at Del Mar later that season.
