  • Rick Dutrow Reaches 2,000 North American Wins at Belmont Park

Rick Dutrow Reaches 2,000 North American Wins at Belmont Park

Trainer Rick Dutrow Jr. reached 2,000 career victories in North America on Sunday at Belmont Park, adding another milestone to a career that has included major wins across the United States.

Dutrow entered the nine race card on September 20 with 1,998 victories. He won Race 4 with Tapwrits Temper, then reached 2,000 when Long Pour captured Race 7.

Long Pour tracked the early pace in the 1 1/16 mile allowance race for New York bred runners before taking control in the stretch. The four year old won by two lengths in 1:42.43 over a muddy main track.

    A milestone during Belmont’s return

The achievement came during the first weekend of racing at the rebuilt Belmont Park, giving the milestone added significance on the New York circuit where Dutrow has spent much of his career.

Dutrow recorded his first victory with Automatic at Aqueduct in March 1986. His career highlights include the 2008 Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes with Big Brown, the 2005 Breeders’ Cup Classic with Saint Liam, and the 2023 Whitney Stakes and Breeders’ Cup Classic with White Abarrio.

Those results have helped his stable earn more than $104 million in purses in North America.

Belmont begins a busy fall season

The milestone arrives as Belmont Park moves into an important fall schedule following its reopening. The meet includes 32 graded stakes among 72 stakes races worth $17.7 million, giving New York racing a prominent role in the run toward the Breeders’ Cup.

OTB Bet will continue following the major stakes and championship developments from Belmont. Readers can revisit our guide to the reopened Belmont Park and Forever Young’s Jockey Club Gold Cup victory as the meet moves toward the Joe Hirsch Turf Classic and Vosburgh Stakes.

  • Dynamic Pricing Wins Forever Together Stakes at Belmont Park

Dynamic Pricing Wins Forever Together Stakes at Belmont Park

Dynamic Pricing returned to the winner’s circle Sunday at Belmont Park, producing a strong late surge to capture the $175,000 Forever Together Stakes over 1 1/16 miles on the Widener turf course.

The five year old mare settled behind the early pace as Modarosa controlled the race up front. Dynamic Pricing remained within striking range for jockey Manny Franco, then accelerated through the stretch and caught the leader near the finish.

Dynamic Pricing won by a neck in 1:43.00 over good turf. Modarosa finished second, while Destino d’Oro was third.

A timely return to winning form

The victory was Dynamic Pricing’s first of 2026 and added another important result to an accomplished turf record. The Chad Brown trainee won the Grade 1 Just a Game Stakes in 2025 and entered Sunday’s race after competing against graded company earlier this season.

Her late response was especially notable because Modarosa was able to establish a comfortable early rhythm. Franco kept Dynamic Pricing close enough to attack, and the mare supplied the decisive acceleration when asked in the stretch.

The result gave Franco his third victory on Sunday’s Belmont card at that point in the afternoon. Dynamic Pricing races for Klaravich Stables.

Belmont weekend adds another notable result

The Forever Together continued a significant opening weekend at the rebuilt Belmont Park. OTB Bet covered the race in advance in its Forever Together Stakes preview, which highlighted Dynamic Pricing among the leading contenders.

The result also adds another established turf runner to watch as the autumn stakes calendar develops. Belmont has several major races approaching, while the wider season continues toward the Breeders’ Cup at Keeneland.

  • Nitrogen Returns in Beldame With Breeders’ Cup Distaff in Focus

Nitrogen Returns in Beldame With Breeders’ Cup Distaff in Focus

Champion Nitrogen is set to return to racing Friday at Belmont Park in the Grade 2 Beldame Stakes, a $250,000 test that carries added importance on the road to the Breeders’ Cup Distaff.

The Beldame is contested at 1 1/8 miles on dirt for fillies and mares. Nitrogen will break from post 4 with Jose Ortiz aboard for trainer Mark Casse. The four year old has not raced since finishing second to Sovereignty in the Grade 1 Whitney at Saratoga on August 8.

    A Breeders’ Cup focused return

Nitrogen’s connections have made the Breeders’ Cup the central objective of her campaign. The Beldame offers a logical return to competition against fillies and mares before the Breeders’ Cup championships at Keeneland in October.

She enters the race after a season that included a dominant Grade 1 Ogden Phipps victory at Saratoga. Her Whitney performance also showed that she could compete effectively against leading older males. Nitrogen has won eight of 17 career starts and has finished in the top three in every start.

The Beldame is part of the Breeders’ Cup Dirt Dozen program. An eligible winner can receive a $30,000 credit toward Breeders’ Cup Distaff entry fees, while the second and third finishers can receive smaller credits.

Five horse field offers different challenges

Chad Brown sends out Lost Horizon and Donor Advised. Lost Horizon finished second in the Grade 2 Molly Pitcher at Monmouth Park in July, while Donor Advised enters her stakes debut after an allowance victory at Saratoga.

Boutwell Time brings a four race winning streak into her graded stakes debut. Lika Rolling Stone completes the five horse field.

Nitrogen has already worked over the new Belmont Park main track, completing a half mile in 49.62 seconds on September 12. Her familiarity with the surface gives Casse another useful piece of preparation before Friday.

What the Beldame means for the Distaff

The race gives Nitrogen an opportunity to sharpen her form without facing males again before the Breeders’ Cup. Her previous Distaff experience is also significant. She finished second in the race last season before earning championship honors.

Friday’s Beldame is Race 2 on Belmont Park’s nine race card. First post for the program is scheduled for 1:10 p.m. Eastern.

OTB Bet will continue tracking Nitrogen and the developing Breeders’ Cup Distaff picture as the championship races at Keeneland approach.

  • Consequent Stays Unbeaten With Seneca Stakes Victory

Consequent Stays Unbeaten With Seneca Stakes Victory

Consequent kept her perfect record intact Saturday night at Churchill Downs, taking control before the final turn and drawing clear to win the $199,000 Seneca Overnight Stakes by 4 3/4 lengths.

The Juddmonte homebred completed 1 1/16 miles on a fast track in 1:43.06 under Flavien Prat. Answered Prayers finished second, with A. P.’s Girl third.

    Consequent takes command

Woodstock set the opening pace and reached the first quarter in 24.16 seconds. Consequent moved forward naturally under Prat and assumed the lead after a half mile in 48.22 seconds.

Several rivals tried to close the gap leaving the turn, but Consequent responded quickly and opened a decisive advantage in the stretch. Churchill Downs reported that she had 4 3/4 lengths in hand at the finish.

The victory improved Consequent to four wins from four starts and increased her career earnings to $342,460. She previously won the Grade 2 Starlet at Los Alamitos and returned from a long break with an allowance victory at Ellis Park in July.

    Strong night for Juddmonte

Consequent is trained by Bob Baffert and is a daughter of Into Mischief out of the Uncle Mo mare Cognitive. Her Seneca victory completed a stakes double for Juddmonte after Conceit captured the Dogwood Stakes earlier on the Churchill Downs program.

That result adds another promising three year old filly to the autumn picture. Consequent has now won at sprint and route distances while remaining unbeaten through four career starts.

OTB Bet also covered Conceit’s Dogwood Stakes victory and Doublecents in the Harrods Creek Stakes, completing coverage of the three stakes races on the Saturday night Churchill Downs card.

  • Doublecents Wins Harrods Creek Stakes at Churchill Downs

Doublecents Wins Harrods Creek Stakes at Churchill Downs

Doublecents delivered a career breakthrough at Churchill Downs on Saturday night, winning the $295,000 Harrods Creek Stakes for three year olds in his first start against stakes company.

Ridden by Francisco Arrieta for trainer Brett Creighton, Doublecents settled just behind the early pace before taking command in the final furlong. He finished 1 1/2 lengths ahead of Tagermeen and completed seven furlongs on a fast dirt track in 1:22.48.

    Doublecents finds another gear late

Creole Chrome established the early tempo, with Doublecents positioned just outside the leader through fractions of 23.58 seconds and 46.71 seconds. American Man, who entered as the favorite after strong graded stakes form, raced along the inside while Tagermeen tracked the leaders.

The field tightened around the turn, but Doublecents moved forward as Creole Chrome began to weaken. Once in front, Doublecents had enough left to repel Tagermeen, who closed from the outside. Creole Chrome held third, one length behind Tagermeen.

American Man finished fourth, followed by Gilded Bandit and Stop the Car.

    First stakes victory for Doublecents

The Harrods Creek represented a significant class test for Doublecents. The son of Goldencents entered after a four length allowance victory at Remington Park, then successfully carried that improving form into his first stakes appearance.

The victory increased his career earnings to $317,926 and gave him three wins from six starts. His record now also includes three second place finishes and one third place finish.

Arrieta said after the race that Doublecents broke well, secured a good position behind the leader and still had another gear available in the stretch.

    Churchill Downs stakes picture

The result completed the story that began with OTB Bet’s Harrods Creek Stakes preview, where American Man entered as the established graded stakes performer in a compact six horse field. Instead, Doublecents used the opportunity to announce himself as a developing three year old sprinter.

The Harrods Creek was part of a stakes heavy Saturday evening at Churchill Downs. Conceit also produced a late rally to win the Grade 3 Dogwood Stakes, a result covered in OTB Bet’s Dogwood Stakes recap.

  • Forever Together Stakes Brings Strong Turf Field to Belmont Park

Forever Together Stakes Brings Strong Turf Field to Belmont Park

Belmont Park closes its reopening weekend on Sunday with a competitive edition of the $175,000 Forever Together Stakes, a 1 1/16 mile turf race for fillies and mares.

The field brings together a defending champion, a Grade 1 winner, an unbeaten streak and an intriguing European import. Oversubscribed returns to defend the race she won last year, while Dynamic Pricing brings established top level turf form. Destino d’Oro arrives on a three race winning streak, and Ashikidah makes her first United States stakes appearance after beginning her career in France.

Oversubscribed returns to defend her title

Oversubscribed won the Forever Together last season with Flavien Prat and returns with the same rider. The five year old mare has already shown that she belongs in stakes company, including a victory in the Wild Applause earlier in her career.

Her most recent start came in April, when she finished second to And One More Time in the Plenty of Grace at Aqueduct. The layoff adds an important question for bettors, but her proven record in this race gives her an obvious place among the leading contenders.

Dynamic Pricing brings Grade 1 credentials

Dynamic Pricing owns the strongest established class line in the field. She won the Grade 1 Just a Game in 2025 and has earned more than $1 million during her career.

She has made three starts this season, highlighted by a close second in the Beaugay. Her combination of experience and high level turf form makes her one of the key runners to assess in Sunday’s race.

    Destino d’Oro returns with momentum

Destino d’Oro enters on a three race winning streak and returns after more than six months away from competition. Junior Alvarado has the mount.

The central question is whether she can reproduce that winning form after the extended break against a deeper group of older turf mares.

Ashikidah makes her United States stakes debut

Ashikidah began her career in France with trainer Francis Henri Graffard before being purchased for her move to the United States. She won the Prix Kaldoun at Saint Cloud last September and now stretches into a 1 1/16 mile American turf test for trainer Philip Antonacci.

Antonacci told NYRA that her European form suggested the longer American distance could suit her. That makes Ashikidah one of the more interesting variables in the field, especially for bettors trying to compare overseas form with proven New York runners.

    What to watch

The Forever Together offers a useful contrast of profiles. Oversubscribed has race specific success, Dynamic Pricing has the strongest Grade 1 credentials, Destino d’Oro brings current winning momentum, and Ashikidah introduces an international form line.

The race is scheduled for Sunday, September 20, as the stakes feature on the final day of Belmont Park’s reopening weekend. It follows Friday’s Grade 1 Jockey Club Gold Cup, where Forever Young delivered the signature performance of the new Belmont era.

  • Conceit Wins Dogwood Stakes in Churchill Downs Photo Finish

Conceit Wins Dogwood Stakes in Churchill Downs Photo Finish

Conceit delivered a late rally to win the Grade 3 Dogwood Stakes at Churchill Downs on September 19, catching Explora and Movie Night near the wire in a tightly contested seven furlong stakes for three year old fillies.

Explora went to the front and set the pace, covering the opening quarter in 23.13 seconds. Movie Night stayed close and the two leaders reached the half mile in 45.12 seconds. Conceit settled behind that duel before producing her run through the stretch.

The Juddmonte homebred closed steadily in the final furlong and reached the leaders in time to take the photo. Explora held second and Movie Night finished third. Conceit completed the seven furlongs in 1:22.60.

    Conceit continues her rise

The result gave Conceit her first graded stakes victory. Trained by Brad Cox, the daughter of Not This Time entered the Dogwood after consecutive wins at Churchill Downs and Ellis Park, including the Audubon Oaks on August 9.

Her Dogwood performance was a different test. Rather than controlling the race, Conceit benefited from settling behind a demanding early pace and finishing strongly when the leaders began to tire.

Explora remains an important Breeders’ Cup filly

Explora entered the Dogwood after a five length victory in the Test Stakes at Saratoga. She had previously been identified as a candidate for the Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Sprint, making the Dogwood an important late season checkpoint for that division.

Although Explora was beaten at Churchill Downs, she remained competitive after participating in the pace from the start. The result also puts Conceit into the broader conversation among leading three year old female sprinters as the autumn stakes schedule develops.

  • The Puma Wins Pennsylvania Derby at Parx

The Puma Wins Pennsylvania Derby at Parx

The Puma delivered the biggest victory of his career Saturday at Parx Racing, winning the Grade 1 Pennsylvania Derby after making a decisive move around the far turn and holding off Further Ado through the stretch.

With Javier Castellano aboard for trainer Gustavo Delgado, The Puma covered 1 1/8 miles in 1:49.10. Further Ado finished second after a ground saving trip, while Sassmaster finished third in his stakes debut.

Blinkers help The Puma take another step forward

The equipment change proved important. Castellano had recommended adding blinkers after The Puma finished fourth in the Travers Stakes at Saratoga. Wearing them for the first time Saturday, the colt traveled strongly before Castellano asked him to advance from seventh around the far turn.

The Puma quickly reached the leaders, opened a clear advantage in the stretch and had enough left to withstand Further Ado. Sassmaster stayed on for third after racing near the pace.

Breeders’ Cup Classic becomes the next major question

The victory puts The Puma back near the top of the older season conversation for three year olds after a campaign that included a late Kentucky Derby scratch and a fourth place finish in the Travers. Delgado said the colt will return to Saratoga while his connections consider a path toward the Breeders’ Cup Classic at Keeneland on October 31.

Further Ado entered the Pennsylvania Derby as the favorite and produced a strong late run, but The Puma had already established the advantage he needed. The result adds another major name to the developing Breeders’ Cup picture as the fall championship season approaches.

  • Stradale Wins Gallant Bob Stakes at Parx

Stradale Wins Gallant Bob Stakes at Parx

Stradale continued his rise through the sprint division on September 19, winning the Grade 2 Gallant Bob Stakes at Parx Racing for his second consecutive graded stakes victory.

The three year old son of Yaupon finished 1 1/4 lengths ahead of Dr. Kapur, with Captivator third. Stradale completed six furlongs on a fast dirt track in 1:09.83 with Jose Ortiz aboard for trainer Steve Asmussen.

Stradale builds on his recent progress

The Gallant Bob confirmed that Stradale can carry his improving form against a deeper graded stakes field. He entered the race after earning his first graded stakes victory and again produced a strong finish at Parx.

Dr. Kapur earned his first black type placing with the runner up finish, while Captivator secured his first graded stakes placing in third. Mailata, My Boy Star, Langvad, N. Y. Finest, Tallmar and Amberjack completed the finishers.

The victory lifted Stradale to four wins from 11 career starts and continued an important season for his sire Yaupon.

    Keeneland could be next

The Perryville Stakes at Keeneland on October 17 is a possible next target for Stradale. That would give him another opportunity against leading three year old sprinters as the autumn racing calendar moves toward its championship events.

OTB Bet readers can compare the result with the Gallant Bob Stakes preview and follow the rest of the Parx card through the Pennsylvania Derby preview and Cotillion Stakes preview.

  • Bodacious Bay Wins Cotillion Stakes at Parx

Bodacious Bay Wins Cotillion Stakes at Parx

Bodacious Bay delivered the biggest victory of her career on September 19, winning the Grade 1 Cotillion Stakes at Parx Racing and turning her first start for trainer Saffie Joseph Jr. into a major success.

The three year old daughter of Not This Time moved into contention as the field approached the far turn, took command in the stretch and held a clear advantage over Kentucky Oaks winner Always a Runner. Measure finished third, narrowly missing second, while Tap to Open was fourth.

A major step forward at Parx

My Miss Mo established the early pace, covering the opening quarter in 23.81 seconds and the half mile in 47.99 seconds. Bodacious Bay remained within striking distance before advancing around the turn and taking control as the leaders entered the stretch.

She completed 1 1/16 miles on a fast dirt track in 1:43.60. The victory was her first stakes win, first graded stakes win and first Grade 1 success.

Bodacious Bay entered the Cotillion after finishing second in the Monmouth Oaks in July. Her victory at Parx immediately changes her standing within the three year old filly division and gives her connections an important late season Grade 1 result.

Always a Runner settles for second

Always a Runner entered as the Kentucky Oaks winner and the favorite, but Bodacious Bay had already established a decisive advantage when the favorite produced her late run. Measure closed strongly to finish just behind Always a Runner.

The result adds another important chapter to a major Parx card that also includes the Pennsylvania Derby and Gallant Bob Stakes.

OTB Bet readers can revisit the Cotillion Stakes preview for the field entering the race, and follow the Pennsylvania Derby preview for the other Grade 1 centerpiece at Parx.
