Forever Young Opens as Favorite in Second Breeders’ Cup Classic Future Wager

Forever Young has another sign of market respect heading toward his Breeders’ Cup Classic title defense. Breeders’ Cup installed the Japanese star as the 5 to 2 favorite for the second Classic Future Wager, which opens Friday, September 25 at noon Eastern and closes Sunday, September 27 at 6 p.m. Eastern.

The pool offers 18 wagering interests, including 17 individually listed horses and an All Others option. Sovereignty is the 3 to 1 second choice, followed by Pacific Classic winner Knightsbridge at 6 to 1, Golden Tempo at 8 to 1 and Dubai World Cup winner Magnitude at 10 to 1.

Forever Young strengthens his Classic position

The pricing follows Forever Young’s victory in the Jockey Club Gold Cup at Belmont Park. He returned from a lengthy break to win by three and one quarter lengths, adding another major American result before the October 31 Classic at Keeneland.

OTB Bet has already tracked that progression in our Jockey Club Gold Cup recap and our latest Breeders’ Cup Classic rankings update. The future wager now adds a direct betting market snapshot to that picture.

How the second future wager works

The Classic Future Wager is a win only pool with a two dollar minimum. Prices are fixed when the pool closes, so bettors are weighing the possibility of securing a larger return now against the uncertainty that remains before race day.

Further Ado is listed at 12 to 1 and Preakness winner Napoleon Solo at 15 to 1. Nitrogen, who is scheduled to run in Friday’s Beldame at Belmont, is 40 to 1 in the Classic pool. OTB Bet’s Beldame preview explains why her immediate path remains focused on the Breeders’ Cup Distaff.

Sovereignty was the favorite when the first Classic Future Wager closed August 30. Forever Young was the second choice in that pool. Their positions are reversed in the new morning line after Forever Young’s successful return at Belmont.

What comes next

The second pool closes more than a month before the Breeders’ Cup Classic, leaving important prep races, training decisions and final entries still to come. The wager therefore offers an early view of market expectations rather than a final race day forecast.

The 2026 Breeders’ Cup World Championships take place October 30 and 31 at Keeneland. The Classic is provisionally scheduled for October 31 at 6:16 p.m. Eastern. See OTB Bet’s Breeders’ Cup broadcast schedule and post times for the current championship timetable.
