Ka Ying Rising completed his final serious work in Hong Kong on Friday, September 18, clearing another important step toward his defense of The Everest at Randwick on October 17.
The champion sprinter worked 1200 metres on the Sha Tin turf before dawn in 1 minute 21.07 seconds, finishing his final 400 metres in 22.6 seconds. Trainer David Hayes reported that Ka Ying Rising recovered well from the exercise and is ready for the trip to Australia.
Australia trip comes next
Ka Ying Rising is scheduled to leave Hong Kong for Sydney on Sunday, September 20. His preparation is expected to include two weeks in quarantine at Canterbury Racecourse before a Randwick trial on October 6.
The six year old enters the trip after extending his winning streak to 21 races in the HKSAR Chief Executive’s Cup at Sha Tin on September 6. He won by seven and three quarter lengths and set another Sha Tin 1200 metre course record of 1 minute 6.11 seconds.
Everest defense takes shape
Ka Ying Rising won The Everest in 2025 and is set to return in the Hong Kong Jockey Club slot. His latest work keeps one of the biggest international stories of the Australian spring on schedule as the October 17 race approaches.
OTB Bet will continue to track confirmed field developments and major preparation news as race day gets closer. Readers can follow the permanent The Everest guide for race information and visit the Major Races hub for more championship events around the world.
