Saratoga’s Sunday, September 6 card is built around three stakes races, giving fans a strong closing weekend program before the summer meet wraps on Labor Day.
Three stakes headline Sunday at Saratoga
The $300,000 Spendthrift Farm Hopeful Stakes (G1) is the top event on the card. The seven furlong dirt race is for 2 year olds and remains one of Saratoga’s signature juvenile races.
Sunday also includes the $225,000 Prioress Stakes (G3) for 3 year old fillies at six furlongs on dirt and the $150,000 Disco Partner for older horses at 5 1/2 furlongs on turf.
Why this card matters
The Hopeful gives developing juveniles a late summer Grade 1 opportunity, while the Prioress adds a sprint test for 3 year old fillies. Together with the Disco Partner, the three stakes give Sunday’s program variety across age groups and surfaces.
NYRA lists 12 races for Sunday, with first post scheduled for 12:05 p.m. at Saratoga.
What comes next
Saratoga’s summer meet closes Monday, September 7. New York racing then shifts attention to Belmont Park, where the fall schedule is set to begin September 18 with the $1 million Jockey Club Gold Cup among the major attractions.
